ZL1XMULTI-ONEWelcomed - Alan Meek VK4WR/ZL1RQ guest op Apart from the Solar flare I think we also had an antenna problem on the second day which dented our score aspirations But great contest as always
ZL3XMULTI-TWOChallenging solar Conditions but still great fun and camaraderie!
ZS1TMJSO HIGH ALLThis is my first CQ WW SSB contest. It was a memorable experience!!
ZS2NFSO LOW ALLConditions were pretty good on the higher bands this time, especially 10m which was really smoking hot! I used 100w from an ICOM 736 with a ground plane on 40m, a 2 el quad at 22m on 20m and 15m and a 5 el yagi at 23m on 10m. No chance for 80m as very noisy and the centre fed 80m doublet wasn't cutting the mustard. For the first time I experienced a total radio blackout for about an hour from 1100 UTC on Sunday 26th. I checked the solar X-ray report from Boulder to find out what was happening. It was a big X class flare. Really freaky to have the whole HF spectrum go quiet. I first thought my RX had packed up! Otherwise great fun was had. Thanks !
